Creating an Annual Report that Showcases Franco-Nevada’s Best Results Ever.
Challenge
Franco-Nevada Corporation, a leader in gold-focused royalty and streaming, needed to communicate record-breaking performance in their annual report, a key document for shareholders. The challenge was to deliver a sophisticated and accessible report that reflected the company’s global presence, operational rigour, and future-focused vision. With complex financial data, strict regulatory deadlines, and the need for lasting design infrastructure, Franco-Nevada turned to BTI to elevate both the content and production process.
Challenge
Franco-Nevada, a gold-focused royalty and streaming company recorded their best ever results in 2021. They wanted an annual report design that would celebrate the achievement and meet their submission deadline.
Solution
BTI began by auditing previous reports to identify opportunities for improved clarity, consistency, and brand alignment. We then introduced a modern design system that balanced professionalism with visual appeal. Custom master page templates, detailed style guides, and a modular layout approach enabled agile content development and clear data presentation. Working closely with Franco-Nevada’s internal team, BTI established review workflows that allowed financial and editorial updates to occur in parallel. This significantly streamlined the production cycle and reduced the need for last-minute revisions.
Solution
BTI began the process by researching past annual reports of Franco-Nevada to devise an updated style for the data tables and page layout to create a more unified and consistent overall look and ease of use. Master pages, paragraph styles and cell styles were established to improve the content flow which lead to quicker turnaround time for client reviews.

The redesigned report not only showcased Franco-Nevada’s financial results but also reinforced its leadership, discipline, and transparency. It raised the standard for design sophistication and efficiency in shareholder communications. Since 2021, BTI has delivered three consecutive annual reports, each completed on time, aligned to brand standards, and without compromise. The consistent visual identity and cohesive storytelling across editions have strengthened investor confidence and internal alignment. This edition earned a Gold Award in the Publications – Annual Reports category at the Hermes Creative Awards, recognizing its excellence in both design and strategic communication. What was once a compliance-driven document has become a flagship brand asset, celebrating performance, signalling credibility, and supporting the company’s growth story year after year.
