Good Food For All!

Delivering a Custom Made System with Fresh Results

Eden Food For Change is a Mississauga-based food bank that aims to serve the city’s less fortunate with access to fresh produce while providing educational programs to the community. One of their biggest challenges was that their website wasn’t able to cater to their core audiences consisting of volunteers, donors, and food bank members. Information was nested within pages, making it difficult for users to find what they were looking for and the ordering system for their Fresh Produce Box required hours of manual input from the Eden team to process.

BTI redesigned the Eden website to make it more approachable and friendly for food bank members accessing their services and discover what resources were available to them. In addition, the website served as a platform educate users on ways to get involved with Eden’s cause. For volunteers, the Get Involved page was segmented into different audiences and included information about various programs volunteers could expect by participating. For donors, the Donate page displayed 3 main ways users could contribute to Eden’s cause with all the information consolidated in one place. The backend was revamped with a custom-built CMS to make it easier for staff to maintain and update the website, but also addressed their biggest pain: an efficient ordering system for their Fresh Produce Box program.

The new website was unveiled during Eden’s annual general meeting to rave reviews to its fresh new design. The Fresh Produce Box program was relaunched with a new e-commerce functionality and a fully customized ordering system, complete with subscription details, autoresponder emails, and automatic tax receipt distribution. The new functionality had an overwhelmingly positive response and received 450 new subscribers in their first week, currently has over 1,200 subscribers and won a Bronze Summit Creative Award for Website Design & Development.
