Create Holiday Marketing Magic!
Posted on September 27, 2023
For many brands, this entire year has been spent working towards long term goals, building impactful campaigns and understanding audiences to ensure the strategy resonates. With three months left in the year, is it possible to use this time to create meaningful change and end the year stronger than you started it? We say yes!
Team BTI is here to help our client partners dominate their sales and marketing goals, and today, we are sharing some of our favourite ways to help brands plan their holiday marketing campaigns:
Start Early and Be Strategic
Shopping trends tell us that consumers are starting their shopping earlier than ever before. In response, brands should consider launching holiday campaigns in October to ensure they capture this early-bird market. Planning and strategizing well in advance gives brands a competitive edge.
Key Tactic: Review your previous holiday campaigns. What worked? What didn’t? Analyzing past performance can provide valuable insights to inform your strategy.
Include Multiple Touchpoints
Shoppers are influenced by a variety of sources — traditional ads, social media, word of mouth, and in-store POP, all of which should be considered as part of a cohesive marketing and sales strategy.
Key Tactic: At BTI, we always recommend multiple vantage points when it comes to talking to your target audience. Why? More channels means more eyes to see your message, and repetition keeps your brand top of mind.
Put the Mobile User Experience First
We’ve all been there, trying to complete a purchase, and something doesn’t go right. Maybe the website is glitching, or maybe your discount code isn’t working – these are all important roadblocks that can get in the way of a valuable customer experience… and sale. We know that mobile shopping is continuing to rise, so ensuring that your website and marketing materials are mobile-friendly is crucial. This is also the time to consider last-minute incentives to reduce cart abandonment and further prioritize the user experience.
Key Tactic: If your brand utilizes an app or promotes merchandise in collaboration with one, create app-exclusive holiday discounts and deals. This is a great way to incentivize downloads and retain your app users post-holiday season.
Use Social Media Advertising
Social media platforms are excellent channels for holiday marketing. It is the perfect media to create visually appealing content and engage with your audience in a way that generates buzz for your brand. Understanding the power of social media can amplify your brand’s reach and credibility in ways standard digital ads cannot.
Key Tactic: One meaningful way to connect with your customers is to connect with their community. Invest in your social media platforms by spending time with the community and using it to reinforce what you stand for to authentically align with your customers’ values.
Embrace and Emphasize Email Marketing
Email marketing is the “holy grail” for marketers, especially around the holidays. These are the people who said, “Yes, I want to hear from you,” and trusted your brand with their personal email addresses. At BTI, this list is a respected tool to help our client partners personalize messages to different audiences for an impactful and measurable campaign.
Key Tactic: Engage your email subscribers with personalizations to make them feel special and add an exciting offer they cannot refuse. Timely, personalized emails have the best chance of creating connections with your customers by providing relevant content at a time when a customer is most likely to act.
Make An Offer They Can’t Refuse!
Create a sense of urgency and excitement by offering exclusive discounts and promotions strategically leading up to the holidays. Special offers and early access deals can drive immediate sales.
Key Tactic: Urgency marketing tactics have proven to be highly effective in driving sales during the holiday season. Consider providing limited-time offers, abandoned cart discounts, scarcity messaging, and countdown timers….. keep customers engaged and lead to conversions throughout the season.
