Marketing Trends For 2023
Posted by Naina Trivedi on January 26, 2023
What is in store for the marketing world in 2023?
Change is the only thing we can promise you with certainty, but here are our predictions for the year ahead:
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
While artificial intelligence isn’t quite ready to take over your brand marketing, the idea of incorporating AI into our strategies is working its way into the mainstream. We predict that there will be rapid growth in this area, leading to new ideas, unique solutions and surely, problems too. We encourage marketers to have an open-mind, stay on top of industry developments and never forget that you still know your customer best.
2. Sustainability
At BTI, we know that the environment is the most pressing issue for brands trying to keep up with an increasingly conscious market. We predict the sustainability conversation will move into the foreground of marketing initiatives this year as brands fight for your dollar. Being transparent about sustainability is no longer a trend, but a necessity as we move into 2023.
3. Authenticity In Marketing
There has always been an emphasis on authentic online experiences, but in 2023, we predict this trend will grow in importance. Social media consumers today are intelligent, savvy and experienced in detecting authenticity. They have built communities of people they relate to, and for many, this is a sacred space that should be honoured. We recommend focusing on finding alignment when working in this space and shifting away from “in your face” selling tactics in exchange for more long term, relationship building strategies.
4. Focus on Conversion
What does it mean to have lots of followers if none of them are converting? At BTI, we always value quality over quantity and think that this will be another trend for 2023. According to the Social Media Examiner, 56.4% of businesses struggle to sell on demand and only 4.2% know exactly how to sell on demand. Whether it is a social media following or an email list, this is the year brands are going to zero in on how engaged their audience is.
5. Short Form Video
TikTok has changed the game when it comes to video, and we are here for it. We predict this year’s video trends will be all about short form content that can stand with or without audio. This speaks to the ways we are consuming content, as well as our diminishing attention spans. We recommend that brands experiment with different types of videos while ensuring the long term strategy is top of mind.
6. Content Creation
Our collective appetite for content is insatiable. For marketers in 2023, this means that no matter what industry you are coming from or what demographic you are talking to, content creation matters.
Evolution is part of the marketing experience. As fast as we adapt, there will always be the “next big thing” percolating.
