Newsletters Part 2: How to Nurture Mailing Lists
Posted on May 25, 2023
A massive mailing list is great, but only if your audience is engaged. As an industry standard, an open rate over 3% is considered good, but at BTI, we don’t settle for less than 20% for our client partners. Building a mailing list is one thing, but nurturing it is a whole different ball game. Mailing lists can be a powerful tool for businesses to communicate with their customers, but it requires effort and strategy to ensure your subscribers remain engaged and interested in your content. In this blog post, we’ll go over some tips on how to nurture your mailing list effectively.
Be Relevant
The content you send to your subscribers should be relevant to their interests and needs. You can segment your list based on interests or demographics and send targeted content to each segment. This helps to keep your subscribers engaged and interested in what you have to offer.
Be Consistent
Consistency is key when it comes to email marketing. You should have a regular schedule for sending emails so that your subscribers know when to expect them. This also helps to build trust and reliability. However, you don’t want to overwhelm them with too many emails, so find a balance that works for your audience.
Be Personal
Personalization is another important aspect of email marketing. Address your subscribers by name and use their purchase history or other information to make your emails more personalized. This makes your subscribers feel valued and understood, which in turn can increase engagement and loyalty.
Be Clear
Your subject line is the first thing that your subscribers will see, so it needs to be attention-grabbing and clear. Avoid using spammy language or clickbait tactics, and instead, use a clear and concise subject line that accurately represents the content of your email.
Be Valuable
Make sure that your emails provide value to your subscribers. Whether it’s exclusive offers, useful tips, or helpful resources, your subscribers should feel like they’re getting something out of your emails. This can help to build trust and loyalty with your audience and increase the chances that they’ll engage with your emails in the future.
Be Mindful of Metrics
Finally, it’s important to monitor your email marketing metrics to see how your subscribers are engaging with your content. Look at metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and conversions to see what’s working and what’s not. This can help you to make data-driven decisions and improve your email marketing strategy over time.
