now Trending: BTI’s Guide to 2024
Posted on January 25, 2023
At the beginning of each year, we like to put our heads together and have a conversation about what we think will matter the most over the next 12 months. In the marketing and sales industry, we are used to change and embrace innovation. We are always looking to find ways to thrive in a dynamic environment that requires consistent learning. For us, what matters most in this exercise is how we can make new ideas, technologies and trends work for our client partners to accomplish marketing and sales objectives more efficiently when we consider cost, time and results for the year ahead.
There are many trends and predictions about where the next year will take us. Today, we are exploring six key trends on marketers’ minds right now, and sharing ideas on how you can incorporate the latest trends and technologies into your next strategic plan.
1. Harness the Artificial Intelligence Power
Artificial Intelligence was undeniably the biggest and most talked about trend of 2023, thanks to the release and immediate success of tools like ChatGPT. While 2023 was all about playing with new AI tools, 2024 will be about integrating learnings into real-time results. We predict that AI will revolutionize marketing in 2024 through hyper-personalization, creating and optimizing content, and predictive analytics and decision-making.
For example, with conversational AI that can comprehend questions, “decision tree chatbots” may become obsolete, leading to the implementation of conversation AI Chatbots for customer service. Another such adoption of AI will be predictive AI, enabling marketers to predict target consumers’ needs and up their retention marketing game.
2. Make it Personal
While personalization isn’t new, it has been a topic that is consistently top of mind for marketers looking to satisfy the increasing demand for tailored experiences. In 2024, we expect to see a new level of hyper-personalization on social media, websites and even in retail stores.
To leverage this trend, brands should invest in sophisticated analytics for advanced customer profiling. With hyper-personalization, marketers can produce tailored content, provide relevant product recommendations, and execute campaigns that succeed in converting audiences.
3. Zero in with Data
Data remains the backbone of successful marketing campaigns and continues to grow as brands seek more significant ROI and resilience. In 2024, hyper-focused data-driven marketing strategies will enable precise target audience segmentation, enabling the replacement of generic campaigns with targeted ones. By focusing on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data through new AI platforms, marketers will have the insights required for informed decision-making. Investing in robust analytic tools to understand customer behaviour, preferences, and market trends is important, but a human perspective is what really translates data into results.
4. Adopt Transparency
In 2023, we saw the rise of multiple websites and platforms seeking explicit consent to maintain customer trust and loyalty. In 2024, this will no longer be a trend but a must-have. With growing concerns about data privacy, transparency and ethical marketing practices are paramount. Organizations with strong data privacy practices and transparent data policies will gain a competitive advantage. Establish trust by clearly communicating your data usage policies and embracing privacy-enhancing technologies to safeguard customer information. Align marketing strategies with ethical values and emphasize the responsible use of customer data to build a strong brand reputation.
5. Find an Authentic Purpose
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and brand purpose are not just buzzwords — they’re integral to successful marketing in 2024. As there is a consistently rising trend of consumers seeking both honesty and value for their money, it has become essential for companies to demonstrate their environmental and social credentials. In 2024, marketing efforts will be selling a product/service and the authentic purpose behind it, while navigating some complex social issues. As consumers can see through greenwashing and social posturing, brands need to be genuine rather than simply stating that they care.
6. Think Small
2023 saw immense focus on user-generated content (UGC), which marketers used to increase brand credibility, consumer engagement and reduce marketing costs. At BTI, we use user-generated content in our online strategies as it helps to foster a sense of community for our client partners’ brands. This year, the trend toward UGC and micro-influencers will continue to grow over engaging big influencers. While UGC creators help brands build long-term credibility and trust, micro-influencers provide authentic connections with smaller but more engaged audiences. As both these creators matter, decide the best approach based on your brand’s goals.
At BTI, we have been leveraging industry trends for over 25 years to provide sales and marketing solutions that resonate. In the last year alone, we have incorporated AI into a variety of different tactics in our own journey — for content creation, automating routine tasks, and enhancing customer interactions. We expect it will continue to be a tool for learning and enhancing our work in 2024.
The marketing and sales landscape in 2024 demands agility, innovation, and a customer-centric approach. By leveraging some of these trends, brands and businesses can navigate the evolving trends in ways that work for their sales and marketing goals.
